Sources and methodology
FootballQuants combines stored provider data with its own fantasy football calculations. The public sourcebook and interactive Player Research board share the same production implementation.
What the metrics mean
- Season projection: a full-season projected stat line scored with the requested league-family format. It is not a weekly projection or a claim of remaining points.
- ADP: average draft position from stored Sleeper market data where available, with a FantasyPros market fallback. Draft format and season matter. Consult row-level provenance where supplied.
- Trade value: FootballQuants rest-of-season model value relative to positional replacement. It is a model comparison unit, not projected total points or an offer-acceptance probability. Half-PPR is public; PPR and standard values require paid access.
- ros_ppg: estimated points per unstarted game through Week 17. Captured Sleeper future stat lines are rescored for the selected format; missing weeks use model fallback. Read projection.source, captured_at, covered_weeks and missing_weeks. A null remaining_games means the schedule is unverified and games_left is only an estimate. This is not a weekly start/sit recommendation.
- ly / ytd: observed previous-season / current-season production, scored using the requested format. g is observed games, pts is fantasy points and ppg is points per observed game.
- adv / adv_ytd: previous-season / current-season advanced context from stored NFL Next Gen Stats and Pro Football Reference feeds. These descriptive metrics are not all priced into trade values.
- xfp: opportunity-based expected rushing and receiving half-PPR points, excluding passing, fumbles and bonuses even when the board uses another scoring format. xfp_diff compares observed rushing/receiving half-PPR points with that expectation only across matching covered weeks; it is unavailable when coverage differs. Read xfp_coverage and xfp_through_week. A positive or negative difference does not establish future regression.
Scoring and scope
The public player board supports half-PPR, PPR and standard families, 10 or 12 teams, and one or two quarterback slots. These are league-family assumptions. Your league's custom scoring requires a league-scoped tool. The public board covers the skill players available to its production model; it is not a complete NFL directory.
Freshness and missing evidence
Every data packet includes season/week, data_version, model generation time when known, source freshness and limitations. retrieved_at is the response time, not the source capture time. A recently rendered page can contain old or incomplete sources. Null means unavailable or access-restricted, never a neutral estimate. Inspect per-source status, expected versus served season, and warnings before calling anything current.
Preseason player write-ups are historical context. News digests and injury annotations can be model-inferred; inspect their captured dates. Missing news does not establish that a player is healthy. These sources do not establish a predictive advantage for every feature.
